The walking tour offers you a chance to discover the ancient history of the city and the fascinating narrow streets and treasure of UNESCO heritage. You’ll taste the arancina (it’s a girl in Palermo), and the delicious panelle (a sort of squared chickpea flour fritter aromatized with seeds or fennel, and crocchè fried potato croquettes), sfincione (a sort of pizza bread, soft and leavened similar to a sponge, with tomato sauce, onion, anchovies, oregano and soft cheese for lovers of meat). For meat lovers, pani ca’meuza (a soft sandwich with sesame seeds, stuffed with veal lungs, trachea and spleen previously boiled or steamed whole, are then cut into thin slices and fried for a long time in the suet, the lard), stigghiola which is a lamb/goat or veal and a spring onion in the middle with parsley, skewered and cooked directly on the grill.
After eating you’ll have a typical Sicilian digestive drink “the Zammù” (anise flavored).
